Distracted Driving Enforcement and Education Campaign

Distracted driving is now the second leading cause of car crash fatalities – ahead of impaired driving – and is the leading cause of rear-end crashes which often result in injuries. This campaign includes enhanced enforcement and new education starting September 5.

Police will be increasing enforcement throughout the province, and community volunteers will be conducting “cell watch” deployments to remind drivers to leave the phone alone.

We can all do our part to make B.C. roads safer by leaving our phones alone and remaining focused on driving. You can show your support by displaying a “not while driving” decal on your vehicle as a reminder to yourself and other drivers to leave the phone alone (available at any ICBC driver licensing office or participating Autoplan broker locations).
